ORLANDO (March 9, 2010) – Orlando’s Rosen Plaza, Rosen Centre and Rosen Shingle Creek, the award-winning trio of convention properties surrounding Orlando’s Orange County Convention Center, have once again been honored by the readers of Meetings & Conventions (M&C) magazine for their excellence in the meetings industry.

All three properties received M&C’s prestigious Gold Key award, designating them as outstanding meeting properties. Readers of M&C, as many as 70,000 corporate, incentive and association meeting planners, based their votes on the overall professionalism of the staff and quality of the property, specifically: staff attitude; quality of meeting rooms; quality of guest services; food and beverage service; proficiency of handling reservations; availability of technical/support equipment and range of recreational facilities.

“As we celebrate these wonderful accolades from our clients and friends at M&C, we are also moving forward with exciting new projects and new ways to meet the needs of groups at Rosen Hotels & Resorts,” said Leslie Menichini, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Rosen Hotels & Resorts, Convention Properties. “We are in the process of expanding Rosen Shingle Creek with the addition of luxury villas, and will begin refurbishment of both Rosen Plaza and Rosen Centre this spring. With these enhancements, we will be even more equipped to attend to the needs and wants of our meeting planners.”

Rosen Hotels & Resorts recently purchased a 25-acre parcel of land (fronting Shingle Creek Golf Course) to build a 300 to 500-unit luxury villa addition to Rosen Shingle Creek. The villas will expand the independent hotel chain’s newest convention hotel, Rosen Shingle Creek, to nearly 2,000 guest rooms and will bring the combined number of Rosen convention hotel guest rooms (at Rosen Plaza, Rosen Centre and Rosen Shingle Creek) to approximately 4,000. The property, which is contiguous to the Rosen College of Hospitality Management, will feature a pool, restaurant, private check-in and registration desk, a private club house and private meeting space. Guests of the new property will have full access to all of Shingle Creek’s amenities, including the Shingle Creek Golf Club, the Spa at Shingle Creek, fitness center, twelve lounging/dining options and more. All villa rooms will have fantastic golf course views.

Together, the three Rosen convention hotels offer the most rooms, most meeting space and closest proximity to the Orange County Convention Center of any Orlando convention hotels.  Combined with the new addition, they will continue to lead the local convention market, offering more than 4,000 rooms and a total of 650,000 square feet of flexible meeting space featuring the nation’s second largest column-free ballroom, an award-winning championship 18-hole golf course and golf academy, world-class spa, nearly two dozen dining, entertainment and lounge options, state-of-the-art fitness centers, and a variety of tennis and sport courts which will provide meetings attendees and leisure guests unparalleled convenience and amenities. Each of the Rosen convention properties has been designated a Two Palm Green Lodge by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, meeting and often surpassing the state’s requirements to be deemed eco-friendly hotels.

Celebrating its 35th anniversary, Rosen Hotels & Resorts has grown from a single 256 room hotel to approximately 7,000 rooms in seven properties (six percent of the total guest rooms in Central Florida).  Today, the Rosen family of hotels, which includes the award-winning convention properties, Rosen Plaza, Rosen Centre and Rosen Shingle Creek, and four leisure properties in the Orlando tourist corridor, including the Quality Inn International, Quality Inn Plaza and Rodeway Inn International and Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista, remain committed to provide outstanding value for all guests.
