ORLANDO (Oct. 4, 2007)  Orlando Magazine has announced its much anticipated 2008 Hotel Awards and once again, readers have honored Orlando hotelier Harris Rosen and his new Rosen Shingle Creek with numerous awards.

Readers have spoken and seem to agree that Harris Rosen, founder and president of Rosen Hotels & Resorts, does much more than create award-winning vacation and convention destinations, such as Rosen Shingle Creek, which opened in Sept. 2006.  His multi-million dollar philanthropic efforts and genuine community loyalty positions him as a role model among Central Florida’s corporate citizens.

Rosen was honored for making the “Best Contribution to Orlando” and tied with Alan Villaverde of the Peabody Orlando as the “Most Influential (Hotel) Executive.” Rosen’s newest hotel, Rosen Shingle Creek was voted “Best Lobby Design” and tied for “Best Ballroom.”

“These awards mean so much because they are given by the people of our great city,” said Rosen, a 40-year resident of Orlando. “I’m honored to be recognized by readers of Orlando Magazine but even more excited that they have come to appreciate the great beauty and functionality of our newest hotel, Rosen Shingle Creek.”

In August, the readers of Orlando Magazine named Rosen the area’s “Best Corporate Citizen” for the second year in a row.  Readers also ranked as one of “Orlando’s 50 Most Powerful People.”  In April of this year, the Orlando Business Journal named Rosen Hotels & Resorts one of the top 20 Best Places to Work in Central Florida.

This is not the first award for Rosen Shingle Creek either, despite the fact that the hotel just celebrated its first birthday in September. The hotel earned the coveted AAA Four-Diamond Award for 2008 and has already won numerous meetings industry awards, including the Gold Key and Gold Tee Awards from Meetings & Conventions magazine, the Pinnacle Award from Successful Meetings magazine and most recently received the One-Palm Florida Green Lodge awarded from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.  The hotel was the first new property in the Pinnacle Award’s history to win after being open less than a year.

The lush backdrop of early 1900s Florida with the turn-of-the-century splendor of grand hotels sets the tone for the elegant Rosen Shingle Creek hotel, uniquely located on Shingle Creek, the headwaters of the Florida Everglades. With its natural charms and Spanish-revival flavor, the Rosen Shingle Creek offers oversized guest rooms (among the largest in Central Florida at 436 gross sq. ft.) with plush Creek Sleeper beds, carved and burnished chestnut headboards and dressers, soothing deep cinnamon, gold and aqua fabrics, crown molding and custom art of the area’s lush, natural surroundings.  All 950 double guest rooms feature queen beds (one of the largest number of double queens available at any hotel in Orlando).   Guest rooms options also include 410 Kings, 106 Parlor Suites, 30 Hospitality Suites and three elegantly appointed Presidential Suites.  High-tech conveniences include 32-inch flat screen TVs featuring NXTV technology, allowing for high-speed Internet access.

Amenities include the award-winning Shingle Creek Golf Club, 13,000-square-foot The Spa at Shingle Creek with nine treatment rooms and a state-of-the-art Fitness Center, twelve dining/lounging options, four outdoor swimming pools, two lighted tennis courts, basketball, sand volleyball, horseshoes, nature and jogging trails, fishing and more.

The 1,500-room hotel, is conveniently located at 9939 Universal Blvd., just off the International Drive tourist district and ten minutes from the Orlando International Airport.
