Continuing the legacy set forth by the late Harris Rosen, Rosen Hotels & Resorts new president and CEO Frank Santos will present 20 college and vocational school scholarships to students from Orlando’s Jones High School on May 7, 2025. The students live in Orlando’s Parramore community and will receive the scholarships from the Rosen Parramore PS8 Foundation. This initiative follows Santos’s distribution of 18 similar scholarships to students at Dr. Phillips High School on May 5, 2025. The Harris Rosen Foundation awarded those scholarships.
Empowering Underserved Communities:
- The scholarships are part of Harris Rosen’s legacy, vision and commitment to the Tangelo Park and Parramore communities—two areas in Orlando that have historically faced economic challenges. These scholarships, provided by the Harris Rosen Foundation and the Rosen Parramore PS8 Foundation, provide a lifeline for students who dream of higher education but often face financial barriers.
Over the past 30+ years, hundreds of students have received scholarships through Rosen’s foundations, enabling them to pursue their academic dreams with the goal of graduating debt-free.
First-Generation College Students:
- Some of the scholarship recipients are first-generation college students, breaking barriers and creating pathways for future generations. By investing in their education, Rosen’s goal was to empower these young individuals to achieve their full potential. The scholarships cover not only tuition but also room & board and books. The commitment encompasses mentorship, guidance, and a belief in each student’s ability to succeed.
A Proven Model:
- The Tangelo Park Program also turned into an inspiration for others to create similar programs. Its success has been recognized by Travel + Leisure, which, with the help of the late Harris Rosen, duplicated the program in the Eatonville community. The ripple effect of these scholarships reaches far beyond the individual recipients—it uplifts families, neighborhoods and future generations.
Return on Investment:
- When creating this program, both Rosen and Santos understood that investing in education is an investment in society. For every dollar spent on scholarships, studies show the return to our community is seven dollars. These graduates become professionals, entrepreneurs, and leaders who contribute throughout Central Florida and beyond.
